Oconee County Council District 1

Bill Bruehl lives in Seneca, SC. A Professor Emeritus of Theater Arts at Stony Brook University on Long Island, he has written over 25 plays, many of which have been produced. He was awarded a fellowship by the National Endowment for the Arts. Bill has turned his playwright’s skills to narrative fiction and poetry and has published three books. He is working on another story collection and a novel.

He believes the major problem facing America today is the division that has developed in the last 30 years. It is worse now than ever, permits hatred, and weakens us. Bill wants to listen to the voters in Oconee County, whether Democrat or Republican and respond to them directly and transparently from his own point of view. We need to begin to trust our representative again.

Bill believes we have to protect and preserve this magnificent corner of the Blue Ridge. Let's keep in mind that our economic good fortune will always depend primarily on the unspoiled beauty that brings people here to enjoy the lakes and countryside we are so lucky to call our own.
